The scope of this open position is the Development & Quality Center of Excellencewith a focus on Quality Assurance activities. You will identify and share with all Amadeus QA Engineers what are the best practices in the job and on-board engineers to follow the recommended standards and tooling.
Activities of the Center of Excellence
- Identify best-in-class engineering practices, inside and outside of Amadeus (market trends)
- Document, standardize, and make them available to everyone
- Engage and foster adoption through the various large-audience channels/communities
- Provide training, events and life-my-life services to support both newcomers and general upskilling
- Define metrics and monitor adherence and maturity
- Work with engineering leaders to setup targets to reach at company level
- Work with less mature or new organizations, including M&A, to elevate their standards
Key actors interacting with us
- Community of practices and engineering units to identify and re-cascade best practices
- Engineering boards to lead decision taking, vision and strategy
- Engineering units' senior leadership to support deployment and targets achievement
- Engineering toolchain stakeholders and leaders to support and enable best practices through tooling
Business environment
The Engineering Center of Excellence is part of the Engineering Enablement division (TSI-CPS-EUS) aiming at providing end-to-end engineering experience and toolchain optimized for all the engineering community. We support Amadeus engineers with a set of tightly integrated concepts, practices and tools, managed as a product, covering the entire development cycle from idea to customer value delivery, optimizing development, validation, operations and security. Our mission is to make IT easy for our engineers to do their job the right way.
Ideal candidate competencies
- Proven and successful experience as (principal) QA Engineer or QA Manager
- Recognized as an advanced QA professionals by peers
- Highly knowledgeable of quality engineering practices
- Strong relationship building and collaboration skills
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Pragmatic mindset and results-driven
Common accountabilities
- Proficient in technical knowledge to BE able to share best practices and support Amadeus team to deploy them. Is recognized as a leader in own area and may formally train Specialists/Senior Specialists.
- Understands how main business drivers may impact on own area. Can assess complex problems with broad impact on the activity, improve processes, recommend solutions and risk mitigation plans. Able to communicate complex information.
- Works with a high level of autonomy, based on management directions. Leads projects or contributes to broad cross-functional projects. May contribute to planning of resources and budget.
Specific accountabilities
- Master QA methodology
- Master QA tools, environments and test automation solutions
- Drive continuous and sustainable improvement
- Participate in internal / external forums and lead discussions around QA methodology / framework / tooling evolution
- Strive to maintain very high-quality standards for Amadeus products
- Contribute to events in the QA area
- Propose relevant KPI and ways of measuring them efficiently for compliance with Amadeus Quality Standards
- Ensure adoption and improvement of testing tools & environments : promote existing ones to avoid duplication, evaluate them and recommend improvements
- Coach, mentor & train less experienced QA Engineers, Software Development Engineers and Product Definition Analysts on quality assurance skills and professionalization
- Actively participate in the construction, maintenance, and deployment of the on-boarding of new colleagues
- Provide consulting on test automation issues, testing tools, QA processes and functional test coverage
- Lead a QA Community or a QA Community stream
