Volvo GTT Lyon has an opening for a Mechanical Simulation Engineer to join the professional collegial team at Group Truck Technology. This is a permanent full-time position in Lyon.

Your future team :

Our team (CSETA) : Chassis, Structure, suspended element, transport adaptation & simulation is responsible for Renault Trucks Heavy Duty range, and we are supporting European Medium Duty Business Unit (EMDBU) by the help of our strong and wide knowledge in strategic and critical areas. We are in charge of the Chassis Structure, equipment, Transport Adaptation and Simulation. We work cross sites (Sweden, India, US, Brazil...) and cross functionally.

In this role you will complete mechanical simulations and analysis of components and complete vehicle mainly for durability and reliability features.

In this position you will work on Diesel trucks as well as new truck propulsion platform like BEV, Fuel Cell...

You will BE responsible to organize daily work of the simulation team and when needed to delegate to other Volvo site teams as well as external resources. You will propose analysis plan and contribute to verification and validation plan for the project. You will BE in close collaboration with engineering and verification/validation department. You will work on method development through local/global network.

Main activities :
- Lead and support simulation engineers in their daily tasks.
- Plan, manage, and execute complex simulations (static, dynamic, fatigue) and analysis for chassis and EMDBU.
- Interpret simulation and test results to provide recommendations and design improvements.
- Ensure simulation model reliability and alignment with real-world performance through collaboration with test departments.
- Develop and optimize simulation methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Act as a key contact for durability and reliability simulations locally and globally.
- Foster innovation through collaboration with universities, institutes, and internal teams.

Who are you? (Required knowledge/experience)

Experienced in structural simulation using FEA, you thrive in a global environment with a passion for technology. A strong leader and problem solver, you drive simulation development and collaborate effectively. Curious, autonomous, and results-driven, you bring expertise in powertrain or automotive development.
Expertise :
- Mechanical simulation (FEA, multibody analysis)
- Signal post-processing & data analysis (Power BI, AI a plus)
- Programming (Python, Matlab)
- Product, systems & development knowledge

Software : Nastran, Abaqus, ANSA, Hypermesh, Metapost, Hyperview, NCODE

Qualifications :
- Engineering degree with 10+ years of experience
- Fluent in English, strong communication & leadership
- Mechanical simulation expertise, BEV knowledge is a plus
- Organized, proactive, and a team player
- Familiar with JIRA & Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel)
